Whippoorwills singing in the trees
Campfire smoke hangs on the breeze
The sun paints the sky bright pink
It's last gift before it sinks
The day fades before my eyes,
So, I can greet the fireflies
Light streaks across the sky
Another star says it's last goodbye
Off in the distance a coyote howls
He's trying to find all his pals
He's been out all alone
It's his time to go back home
Laying down on the ground
I try to take in every sound
Countless stars are in my eyes
I hear the lullaby of the night
As I drift off towards sleep
The thought of you, it brings me peace
I know I can be hard to read,
But babe you're all that I need
Lying here in deep sleep
I see your face in my dream
I never knew a smile so fine
It even brightens my dark mind
Whippoorwills singing in the trees
Campfire smoke hangs on the breeze
The sun burns the sky bright pink
It's first gift at days brink
