Fall Out Boy - Centuries Lyrics

Fall Out Boy Lyrics

Centuries Lyrics
Jump to:
(Da da da-da, da da da-da)
(Da da da-da, da da da-da)
(Da da...)

Some legends are told
Some turn to dust or to gold
But you will remember me
Remember me for centuries

And just one mistake
Is all it will take
We'll go down in history
Remember me for centuries

(Hey yeah, oh hey, hey yeah)
Remember me for centuries

Mummified my teenage dreams
No, it's nothing wrong with me
The kids are all wrong
The story's all off
Heavy metal broke my (heart)

Come on, come on and let me in
The bruises on your thighs like my fingerprints
And this is supposed to match
The darkness that you felt
I never meant for you to fix yourself

(Da da da-da, da da da-da)
(Da da da-da, da da da-da)
(Da da...)

Some legends are told
Some turn to dust or to gold
But you will remember me
Remember me for centuries

And just one mistake
Is all it will take
We'll go down in history
Remember me for centuries

(Hey yeah, oh hey, hey yeah)
Remember me for centuries

And I can't stop 'til the whole world knows my name
'Cause I was only born inside my dreams
Until you die for me, as long as there's a light, my shadow's over you
'Cause I, I am the opposite of amnesia
And you're a cherry blossom
You're about to bloom
You look so pretty, but you're gone so soon

(Da da da-da, da da da-da)
(Da da da-da, da da da-da)
(Da da...)

Some legends are told
Some turn to dust or to gold
But you will remember me
Remember me for centuries

And just one mistake
Is all it will take
We'll go down in history
Remember me for centuries

(Hey yeah, oh hey, hey yeah)
Remember me for centuries

We've been here forever
And here's the frozen proof
I could scream forever
We are the poisoned youth

(Da da da-da, da da da-da)
(Da da da-da, da da da-da)
(Da da...)

Some legends are told
Some turn to dust or to gold
But you will remember me
Remember me for centuries

And just one mistake
Is all it will take
We'll go down in history
Remember me for centuries

(Hey yeah, oh hey)
We'll go down in history
(Hey yeah)
Remember me for centuries

Centuries Info:

• Wentz described the idea of the song as a "David vs. Goliath story", stating "We wanted to write a song that empowered people who are a little weird". He added, "It is us passing along the story of how we feel right before we step on stage, trading feeling small and human for all the sweat and grit and sheer power of belief it takes to stare down a giant."

• Centuries also contains a sample of the song Tom's Diner by Suzanne Vega.

• Stump explained: "I feel like it was so ubiquitous when we were kids. I mean, that song was absolutely everywhere and it just kind of disappeared. I haven't heard it in a minute. And I was like that's a shame. That was such an amazing song. I would love for that to get some kind of tip of the hat... It's kinda cool to re-inject that into pop culture."

• American singer Lolo provided backing vocals to the song, singing Suzanne Vega's part. "I think it may be cheaper for us," said Wentz.

• The song served as the official anthem of ESPN's 2014 College Football Playoff coverage.
