Hot on the heels of her viral freestyle Yitty on Yo Tittys (Freestyle), Lizzo has released a new mixtape titled My Face Hurts from Smiling. The project comes ahead of her previously announced fifth studio album, Love in Real Life.
Spanning 13 tracks, My Face Hurts from Smiling features guest appearances from Doja Cat and SZA. First teased on Instagram just days before its release, the mixtape came together in under a week.
"I did this shit in three motherfucking days, bitch!" Lizzo boasts on the closing track "Ditto." "You're welcome!"
Accordingly, the project has a freewheeling spirit, with Southern trap anthems and summery tracks like IRL, where Lizzo and SZA let loose over Jersey club drill production.
After a self-described "gap year" to protect her peace, Lizzo made her return to music earlier this year with new singles Love in Real Life and Still Bad, both of which are set to appear on Love in Real Life. She's also set to portray rock pioneer Sister Rosetta Tharpe in an upcoming biopic.
