1. O'er old Judea's hills one night
Was heard a joyful sound;
A host appeared of angels bright,
And glory shone around:
"Fear not," they sing "to you we bring
Glad tidings, peace on earth!"
Good will to men they carroll'd then,
And sang the Saviour's birth.

2. When they had sung their song of love,
The angels went away
To sing in heav'nly courts above
That first glad Christmas Day.
The shepherd heard the wondrous word
The angels brought to them,
Then hasten's they were sleeping, lay
The Babe of Bethlehem.

3. Around the manger, gathering
They then did prostrate fall;
And worshipped the holy Child
Who came to save us all:
And we will raise the song of praise,
Good will and peace on earth:
With heart and voice we all rejoice,
And sing the Saviour's birth.
